Meet Dr. David RP Almeida, a highly qualified Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon. He has an Honors Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, a PhD in Pharmaceutical Drug Research from the University of Szeged, Hungary, an MBA in healthcare management from The George Washington University, USA, completed medical school from Queen's University, Canada, and also completed his ophthalmology residency from the same university. He furthered his education by completing a vitreoretinal disease and surgery fellowship at the University of Iowa, USA.
Dr. Almeida currently serves as the President & CEO at Erie Retina Research. He has an impressive portfolio with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and has delivered over 150 national and international conference and keynote presentations.
Research interests include vectorized therapies for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema & diabetic retinopathy; complex surgical techniques, and practice management efficiency. Dr Almeida has served as a principal investigator in over 60 clinical trials, ranging from pre-clinical to phases one through four.
During his free time, David loves to explore the outdoors with his wife Jasmine and his three children, Max, Leo & Paloma. Dr Almeida is an avid guitar player & competitive ultramarathon runner who has completed multiple 100-mile races.
